The Shibuya Incident: The Day That Cursed Energy Took Over

The Shibuya Incident: The Day That Cursed Energy Took Over

On the 5th of July, South African otakus and weebs came alive at The Midrand Conference Centre to celebrate all things Jujutsu Kaisen — and it was nothing short of electric. Whether you came for the battles (anime debates), the merch, or just to flex your JJK drip, this was the place to be.

From the moment we walked in, the vibe was intense: cursed energy practically crackled through the air (okay, maybe that was just the freezing cold), but everywhere you turned, there was something for fans to obsess over. Life-sized cardboard cutouts? Check. Cosplayers in stunning Sukuna and Gojo fits? Absolutely. A solid lineup of vendors with exclusive drops and limited edition gear? 100%.

We were lucky enough to have a stall there, and the support was unreal. From cosplay chants echoing through the air to people hyping up our pieces in real time, the energy was unmatched. Seeing people ask about designs, chat about their favourite (and least favourite) characters and anime, and even rep our gear on the spot — it honestly made our day. You guys looked insane!

Beyond the shopping, the queues (shoutout to everyone who waited so patiently), and the icy weather, the real highlight was the community. Whether you were screaming about Gojo’s fate with strangers or arguing about which domain expansion is the most broken, there was this beautiful feeling of connection. Events like this are proof that anime is more than just a genre, it's a culture, a lifestyle, and a space where all of us get to be loud, weird, passionate, and proud.

Massive shoutout to CraftSingh for putting it all together. If you missed this one, don’t worry, we’re already gearing up for the next cursed adventure. And if you came by our stall, thank you so much. You made our weekend!

Until the next one — stay cursed ✌️
